Now you have your website set up what are your website design and theme options?

As mentioned previously there are literally thousands of web themes and styles which can be uploaded to your word press site. They vary in colour, number of columns and style.

You can find many at www.wordpress.org , you can try the Socrates WordPress Design System or you could try to use a theme from someone like Elegant Themes for more advanced styles. Some of the web themes we have set up on wordpress include the following:

WordPress allows you to set up a blog page and as many fixed pages as you like. The blog page is usually the first page and then there are fixed web pages.

Assuming you want a very simple one page design then choose a simple theme and just set up your web page by following the tutorials at word press.

For your simple one page website the page just needs to include a banner with your business name and then in the text area below the banner write a few words which describe your business. Also write down all the information on how a customer can find you. You can also add a photo or image to the site like we have done with www.purestuf.cn above.

Web designs like this are usually uncluttered and the main focus of the site is to communicate what your business does and where it is located.

Step By Step Plan – Basic Business Knowledge

You will need to establish a basic business plan (see my previous article). In the business plan you will need to answer the 5 W’s – who, what, why when and where. You will then need to outline the steps you need to take to implement that business plan. I always use lists and set out the priorities of what needs to happen first.

Set up a separate note book with these lists so you can refer to the actions you need to take and mark them off as you go. Using these techniques you will establish the step by step plan on establishing your business. Setting up your business will always be easier if you have the motivation, desire and a step by step plan.
